  • Reading (54-72 minutes):

The reading section evaluates a candidate's ability to understand academic passages. Tasks include multiple-choice questions, identifying information, and summarizing key points

  • Listening (41-57 minutes):

The listening section assesses a candidate's ability to understand spoken English in academic settings. Tasks include listening to lectures, classroom discussions, and conversations, followed by answering questions

  • Speaking (17 minutes):

The speaking section measures a candidate's ability to express themselves verbally. Tasks include responding to prompts, expressing an opinion, summarizing information, and participating in discussions

  • Writing (50 minutes):

The writing section evaluates a candidate's ability to write in an academic context. Tasks include writing responses to integrated and independent prompts, as well as summarizing information from reading and listening passages.

  • Scoring:

Each section is scored individually, and the total TOEFL score is the sum of the scores from the four sections.
Scores range from 0 to 30 for each section, and the total score can range from 0 to 120.
