TEST FORMAT

  • Listening(30 minutes)

    In the listening section, candidates are required to listen to a range of recordings, including conversations, monologues, and discussions.
    The recordings are played only once, and candidates answer questions related to the content, testing their ability to understand main ideas, specific details, opinions, and attitudes.

  • Scoring:

    Each section of the test is scored on a band scale from 1 to 9, and the overall band score is the average of the four individual scores.
    The scores reflect the candidate's proficiency in English, with 9 being an expert user and 1 indicating a non-user.

  • Speaking (11-14 minutes):

      The speaking test is a face-to-face interview with an examiner and is divided into three parts.
    • Part 1: I: Introduction and interview about familiar topics..
    • Part 2: Candidates receive a task card with a topic to talk about for 1-2 minutes, followed by questions from the examiner.
    • Part 3: A discussion based on the topic from Part 2, exploring more complex issues and ideas.

  • Writing (60 minutes):

      The writing section includes two tasks:
    • Task 1: In the Academic module, candidates describe visual information (graphs, charts, diagrams), while in the General Training module, they write a letter.
    • Task 2: Both Academic and General Training candidates write an essay in response to a point of view, argument, or problem.
    This section assesses the candidate's ability to express ideas coherently and use appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
